Background:

Personality:

Yi Lao-hu is a confident, sometimes bluntly genuine person, who likes to share his knowledge about history and archaeology. His direct approach caused some problem in his past, and prolly will do that in the future, too, but usually he has someone around who can explain or re-phrase his words to smoothen their edge. In spite of his nature he likes to have someone around, basking in their admiration. He gladly offers his help if that is in his power, often refusing payment for kind words.

He likes various shades of green and red colors, and casual clothing, thanks to his field and/or laboratory work, but he can handle the more elegant situations as well.

He transfers 10% of his any income to a foundation which works for saving tigers in the world, doing this anonymously, of course.

History:

The Yi family lived in the mountains around Yan’an since centuries, preserving and treasuring the secret that they’re descendants of one of the old nature gods, the White Tiger of the West.

Some of the family members inherited abilities, how they called, what surfaced after they reached adulthood, even fewer, mostly those who were born in the Year of the Tiger had magical knowledge as well.

Not long after his birth the family moved to Hong Kong, though, to move away the growing power of the communists of Yan’an, who returned after the leaving of the US Army.

The father was a police officer, while his wife worked as a nurse. They had two kids, Lao-hu and his younger sister, Li-fen.

The young Yi Lao-hu was born in the Year of the Metal Tiger, strongest connection to the ancient ancestor from all; this predicted both strong powers and strong enemies. He was a smart and agile boy, and spent his time equally with school-lessons and kung-fu training.

His parents died in shooting during the celebration of their anniversary in a restaurant. The investigation later revealed that it was revenge from an earlier police case. The grandparents took the guidance over them.

He went onto the Cambridge University, learning history and archaeology, along with metallurgy and writing, straining himself to his limits with all those different classes. He hasn’t got much life, but he was determined to be successful to help his family.

Not long after the first few years on the University, his powers began to manifest and that caused problems in his life. He had to finish his writing classes sooner than he wanted to free up time for the growing need for practice self-control.

He struggled and won. He could finish his studies before he returned to his grandparents, just to be sent back to the original homeland, for further training. This became stranger how he expected, as he was sent to a journey to the Himalaya, and landed in a strange new dimension, called K’un L’un.

There he was trained in every ability what he had, in every skill he had learned before and became what he is now, a true child of the White Tiger. He even met with him once, in a wild dream.

Years passed until he was sent back, just to notice that how much year had passed while he was away. His sister was now as old that everyone thought that she is his aunt or mother.

Yi Lao-hu got his doctorate and began to work as an archeologist, continuing his new life as a mage as well. He became known by his advanced knowledge about identifying metal alloys and placing them perfectly in time.

He wrote two fantasy novels from his adventures under a pen-name, what was released at first in Britain but then became more successful than he ever expected.
